Center Stage Alliance Holding Auditions for The Wizard of Oz
Center Stage Alliance invites you to audition for its spring musical, The Wizard of Oz, next week on Monday, Dec.16 and Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 6:30 pm.
Join in bringing the yellow brick road to Statesville, with this stage adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s tale, in which young Dorothy Gale travels from Kansas over the rainbow to the magical Land of Oz. This RSC version features the musical score from the MGM film and is a faithful adaptation of the film. Auditions are open to all individuals ages 8 and older and will take place at Center Stage Alliance, 109 E. Broad Street, Statesville, NC. Only one night of auditions is required. Both singing and non-singing roles are available for all genders. No experience is necessary and there is no audition fee. All roles are expected to perform a cold reading from a provided script. Monologues are encouraged but not required. If preparing a monologue, it should not be from
The Wizard of Oz and should be less than 60 seconds long. If auditioning for a singing role, prepare 16-32 bars of a song of your choice and please bring sheet music for the accompanist. Individuals interested in a non-singing role will not be required to sing during auditions. All individuals auditioning should bring a list of possible schedule conflicts between Jan. 6 through the end of March with them to their audition. “When you audition, know we are excited to have you there; everyone else is nervous, too; and you are not on your own. We are here to help you have a fun audition experience,” said Mykel Inscore Myers, President & Creative Director of Center Stage Alliance. Myers will be directing the show alongside Jennifer D. Grant. This show has a large cast, with many lead and ensemble roles available, and provides opportunities for all experience levels. The Wizard of Oz will open March 20 and run for two weekends, closing March 30. Ticket sales will open in January 2025.
