GFWC of NC Statesville Woman’s Club June 2024 meeting

The General Federation of Women’s Clubs of North Carolina (GFWC of NC) Statesville Woman’s Club recently held their June meeting at the club’s historic clubhouse on West End Avenue. At the meeting, State President Karen Throckmorton helped to install Community Service Team (CST) chairmen. This was also the last meeting before summer break with a fiscal year-end meeting and special recognition of tenured members who were presented tokens of appreciation.

CST chairmen that were installed were Arts and Culture - Sue O’Malley; Community Impact - Jennifer Griffith; and Education and Environment Deneen Wells.


The Club members were recognized for years of membership. They included ... Sandra Landry, five; Shelley Arthur and Rita Tondo, six; Sandra Ball Poole, nine; Dana White, ten; Dedie Dooley, Frankie Epperson and Beth Webb, eleven; Vickie Kidner and Wanda Rushton, twelve; Deneen Wells, thirteen; Fran Baker and Lee Ann Sherrill, sixteen; Stephanie Gill, eighteen. Barb Thorson, twenty-two, Deena Chambers, twenty-eight; Joanna Gaither, twenty-nine; Kim Mulrey, thirty-three; Jennifer Griffith, thirty-five; Mary Ann Rhodes; thirty-seven; Joyce Johnson, thirty-eight; Mickie Vacca, forty-three; Pat Smith, forty-eight; Linda Lavinder, forty-nine; and Janet Hall, fifty-six.



Other awards presented for ... Clubwoman with Heart to Club First Vice President, Shelley Arthur; Hidden Gem of the Year to Community Impact CST Chairman, Jennifer Griffith; and Gem of the Year to Club Second Vice President, Wanda Rushton.



An upcoming summer activity is…


· “Wine Down Thursday!” on August 15 at Wine Maestro in downtown Statesville drop in from 5:30 p.m.- 7 p.m. All SWC members and women interested in learning about the Statesville Woman's Club are invited.



The next club meeting after the break will be on Thursday, September 6, 2024 at the historic clubhouse located at 515 West End Avenue. There will be a time of Social Fellowship at 5:30 p.m. and Meeting at 6:00 p.m. All members, guests and interested women are invited to attend.
