Downtown Statesville Development Corporation And The Iredell Arts Council Bring First Ever Make Music Day To Downtown Statesville

Last Updated 5/1/2024Posted in News

Downtown Statesville Development Corporation and The Iredell Arts Council are excited to bring Make Music Day to Downtown Statesville for the first time on Friday, June 21, 2024 from 12pm – 8pm! They are joining over 1,000 cities in 120 countries around the world to be a part of the biggest music celebration ever!

Unlike traditional music festivals, where only a select few take the stage, they’re inviting everyone—regardless of age or skill level—to be a part of the music-making experience.

On June 21st, they’re transforming Downtown Statesville into a vibrant hub of musical expression. From classical to rap, percussion to piano, and everything in between, we’re celebrating the diverse sounds that make our community unique. There will be music inside businesses and outdoors on the sidewalk, as well as on street corners, in Pecan Park, on church steps, and everywhere else you can imagine.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Open Jam Sessions: Bring your instrument and jam with fellow musicians. No auditions, no restrictions—just pure musical collaboration.
  • Performance Opportunities: Whether you’re a seasoned performer or a newcomer, we welcome you to showcase your talent on our various indoor and outdoor stages.
  • Music Classes: From beginner workshops for children to advanced sessions for songwriters and musicians, there’s something for everyone to learn and explore.
  • Community Engagement: We’re spreading the joy of music to every corner of Downtown Statesville, creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all.

To participate, simply create a profile at statesville.makemusicday.org. Once your profile is created, you can look for participating venues, or venues can find you. If you are interested in becoming a venue, you can create a profile as well.
