Things I Like About Statesville by Maris Caudill

Statesville is a great place to be! The downtown area is beautiful and historical, there are may fun things in the area, and the schools are great.

Something that I like about Statesville is downtown. One specific thing about downtown that I like is all the great places to get something to eat. Some of my favorite places are Grouchos, Andreas, Twisted Oak, Smokin Cantina, Lake Mountain Coffee, and Broad Street Burger. All of their food is really good. Lots of people enjoy the downtown food, including me.

I also love how beautiful downtown is with all of the beautiful plants and buildings. One of my favorite buildings to see is the Mitchell Community College campus building. Going on walks and going shopping is another really fun thing to do downtown. Statesville has one of the best downtowns.

I also like that Statesville is a historical city. It is fun to walk around downtown and see some of the commemorative plaques and memorials. There are also some historical buildings that I like, such as the sharpe house, Groucho's building which used to be a drug store, and the Vance hotel. Another historical place in Statesville that I like is Fort Dobbs. It is cool to see what it was like a long time ago.

Another thing I Like about Statesville is Caldwell Park. I personally play tennis, and it is so fun to go to those courts and play. Also, the cemetery by Caldwell parks is a great place to take walks and admire the pretty trees, plants, and gravestones.

Something else that I enjoy about the city of Statesville is the balloon festival. Even if you don't go to the balloon fest, it is still fun to just look up and see the balloons floating in the sky with their pretty patterns. It is also a great attraction for Statesville.

I also enjoy all the great options for school in Iredell county. All of the schools are great, and it is also good that we have some IB school options. Also, there are some great teachers in Iredell Statesville schools, including my mom. We are all lucky to have such great schools.

Some other great things about Statesville are its parades and festivals. I mentioned the Statesville balloon fest earlier, but that is just one of Statesville's fun festivals. One of the parades that Statesville has is the Christmas parade. They also have a holiday shop and stroll, which is a Christmas celebration for all of Statesville. Another really fun festival is the Pumpkin fest. This is a fall parade with food trucks, music, and vendors. There are also a series of summer concerts called Friday after 5. I like these concerts because the music is so good and it's a great way to spend time with your family.

There are so many other great things about Statesville that I did not mention. Living in Statesville has shown me that people can work together and be a great community. I have lived in Statesville for a little over four years, and in that time I have learned that Statesville is a growing town and a great place to be!
