Beaver Farms: A Farm Five Generations Strong
Lucas Beaver is a fifth-generation farmer at Beaver Farms in Statesville. In business for 150 years, Lucas is happy to be part of the family farm. “I’ve just always wanted to be a farmer”, he said, “I never really thought about doing anything else my whole life.” Today, Beaver Farms is run by Lucas and his father, and the farm has seen quite a bit of change since its founding.
What started out as a dairy farm has transformed over the years, to now grow strawberries, corn, and even raise their own cattle.
“Diversity is key” says Lucas when talking about the variety of farming they do. Beaver Farms is generally open from 10am-6pm during the week, but is largely dependent on the weather.
What a difference 113 years makes!
This home was 3 years old and was renovated into a two story in 1949. Four out of the five generations of Beaver Farms have lived in this home.
