Tanisha Schoolfield used a tough time in her life to find a creative outlet. In 2002, she began making handcrafted purses, and embellished them with beads. She enjoyed working with the beads so much that she started looking for other ways she could use this medium. Soon enough, she began making handcrafted jewelry. “I never really knew I had the talent or the ability”, Tanisha said of her new creations. But simply making the jewelry was only the beginning.

While Tanisha enjoyed her newfound hobby, she never planned on having her own business, but when an opportunity presented itself, she couldn’t say no. “It was not something I was looking to do”, Tanisha said. She founded Creations by TYS, making beautiful, handcrafted jewelry. Her shop is located in Statesville, and carries jewelry using natural gemstones and crystals, all handmade by Tanisha.
