Flea Market, DJ, and Venue, Oh My!
by Candace Lagerhausen
Local entrepreneur Julius Hoke does it all. He’s a flea market owner, DJ, and now, the owner of a small event venue, The Walnut Branch Estate. Once an old photography studio, Julius has worked to transform the space into a modern, neutral venue for small events like weddings, showers, birthday parties, and more. He bought the venue with small events in mind, sharing that, “A lot of your bigger wedding venues, they don’t want to do the smaller events, just because it doesn’t make sense financially for them. But for us being a smaller venue, we can afford to give people affordable prices.” The venue has two great spaces, both indoor and outdoor, which can accommodate a total of 125 people.
When he’s not renovating The Walnut Branch Estate, Julius is busy running the I-40 Flea Market. Located just off of I-40, the flea market features a number of vendors, in both indoor and outdoor spaces. It’s a great place to shop and spend your weekends! “We usually have somebody doing food, we have a snack bar”, says Julius, “It’s a great place to bring the kids, the children love the flea market.” The I-40 Flea Market is open from 8am-3pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
