American Renaissance School Board of Directors

Anna joined the American Renaissance School Board of Directors in July 2024.

"I was born and raised in Troutman, NC, and attended South Iredell High School before pursuing higher education at UNC Charlotte. There, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, followed by a Master of Science in Nursing Education. My career began in the hospital as a pediatric nurse, a role I valued for several years, before transitioning to a position as a nurse educator at Mitchell Community College. Supporting students as they work hard to achieve their goal of becoming registered nurses is incredibly rewarding. In my personal life, I am a proud mother of three sons, two of whom currently attend ARS. My husband, Matthew, serves as a family minister at a local church. In my spare time, I enjoy watching my sons play sports, volunteering at my church, and playing pickleball."

What do you like best about ARS?

"What I love most about ARS is the unique educational experience it offers. Each day, students explore downtown Statesville as they walk to different locations, immersing themselves in the community. The sense of “community” is valued by faculty, staff, students, and local businesses alike. ARS’s core values of respect, support, integrity, safety, and academic excellence guide students in becoming productive citizens. On a personal level, I believe that a quality education should be accessible to everyone—a priority that ARS upholds."

ARS Board of Directors:

Public charter schools are different from traditional public schools in a number of important ways. One of the main differences between public charter schools and traditional public schools is in the way governance is structured. Unlike traditional public schools, public charter schools are governed and operated by the Board of a private non-profit corporation. Board members are recruited or elected volunteers that are responsible for governance, budgeting, fiscal oversight, curriculum, operating procedures and strategic planning at the school, among other responsibilities. The Board holds the school's charter, receives grants and funding, and is responsible for sound administration and oversight. The Board works closely with the Executive Director and has a direct impact on the ultimate success of the school.
