American Renaissance School Board of Directors
Paul joined the American Renaissance School Board of Directors in September 2023.
"I was born and raised in Statesville, NC, and I am a proud graduate of Statesville High School. I went on to earn my Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from UNC Charlotte. Throughout my career, I have worked in both the finance and commercial insurance industries, and I currently serve as a Commercial Insurance Advisor for Noble Insurance Advisors in Charlotte, NC. Athletics have always been a significant part of my life, and my passion for sports continues today. After having the opportunity to pursue my love for baseball and basketball at the collegiate level, I began a coaching career that has continued for the past 20 years. I have had the opportunity to coach high school athletes in both travel basketball and baseball, currently serving as a men's basketball coach at Statesville High School. However, my most exciting coaching experience has been coaching my son Tate for ARS. The most enjoyable part of my life is spending time with my wife Amber, two stepdaughters, and my son. As a family, we enjoy being out on the lake, trips to the beach and of course anything sports related."
What do you like best about ARS?
"One of the best things about ARS is the unique and vibrant educational environment that American Renaissance School (ARS) provides for our students, staff, and the surrounding community. As a downtown charter school, ARS fosters a true sense of community that allows our students, staff, and families to immerse themselves in the heart of Statesville and engage with our local businesses. ARS places a strong emphasis on the development and education of the whole child. This diverse and exciting environment not only enhances academic learning but also nurtures social, emotional, and creative growth. This holistic approach prepares ARS students to thrive both in and out of the classroom."
ARS Board of Directors:
Public charter schools are different from traditional public schools in a number of important ways. One of the main differences between public charter schools and traditional public schools is in the way governance is structured. Unlike traditional public schools, public charter schools are governed and operated by the Board of a private non-profit corporation. Board members are recruited or elected volunteers that are responsible for governance, budgeting, fiscal oversight, curriculum, operating procedures and strategic planning at the school, among other responsibilities. The Board holds the school's charter, receives grants and funding, and is responsible for sound administration and oversight. The Board works closely with the Executive Director and has a direct impact on the ultimate success of the school.
