Introducing StudentAccess at the Iredell County Public Library
American Renaissance School and the Iredell County Public Library are partnering to support students' ongoing education. We share the belief that a love of books and learning is a strong foundation for student success, and we are working together to provide every ARS student and staff member access to books and resources found at their public library.
Beginning in early 2018, all ARS students and staff will be able to use their NCEdCloud number (also known as a student / staff ID number, state student / staff ID, or PowerSchool number) to access and borrow public library books and resources. We are calling this initiative StudentAccess.
Question: What can a student do with a StudentAccess account?
Answer: StudentAccess accounts allow students to borrow e-resources and access library databases just like any other Iredell County Public Library card. Students can also borrow up to 10 print or audio books from the Iredell County Public Library collection.
Question: How will a student use their StudentAccess account?
Answer: Students will use their school ID number and PIN to borrow books or access library services such as e-books and online research. The default PIN is the last 4 digits of the student ID number.
Question: Is the StudentAccess account free?
Answer: Yes, the student account is free. There are no overdue fines for student accounts, but students are responsible for any lost or damaged books.
Question: Does the StudentAccess account affect my student's existing library card or account?
Answer: StudentAccess accounts do not affect an existing library card or account and they are not connected in any way. If your student already has a library card, they are welcome to use their existing card or their new StudentAccess account.
Question: How do I sign my student up for a StudentAccess account?
Answer: You don't need to take any action to get a StudentAccess account for your student! All ARS students from Kindergarten through 8th grade will automatically be enrolled in the program unless you opt-out.
Question: What if I don't want my student to have a StudentAccess account?
Answer: If you do not want your student to have access to library materials, you may opt-out using the form linked below. Please fill this out before January 2, 2018. If you would like to opt-out after January 2nd, you will need to fill out a paper form and return it to the school or the library to have your student's StudentAccess account disabled.
