Art & Soul Featuring Author Frye Gaillard to Explore Faith, Journey, and Justice
Statesville, NC — June 5, 2024 — Get ready for a thought-provoking evening as Frye Gaillard, the well-known former Southern Editor at the Charlotte Observer and Writer in Residence at the University of South Alabama, takes us on a journey through his writings. Grace Baptist is proud to sponsor the next installment of Art and Soul. Gaillard's stories dive deep into topics like faith, journey, and social justice, sparking conversations that provoke deep reflection.
Gaillard will read excerpts from his many books, giving us a glimpse into how he sees the world and how he brings his ideas to life on paper. With over 30 books under his belt, including award-winners like "A Hard Rain: America in the 1960s" and "Cradle of Freedom: Alabama and the Movement that Changed America," Gaillard knows how to capture our attention and stimulate our intellect.
“Frye has spent his life engaged with the public sphere. He has worked as a person of faith and with God’s passion for justice and freedom. In our many years of friendship, I have met few with his insight and ability to articulate what we must consider as we live our lives in public,” says Steve Shoemaker, pastor at Grace Baptist Church.
After each reading, Steve Shoemaker will share his thoughts, adding another layer to the discussion. Together, Gaillard and Shoemaker will lead us on a journey of discovery, exploring how faith, our personal journeys, and the fight for justice all intersect.
Don't miss this chance to join Frye Gaillard and Steve Shoemaker as they explore the creative process behind our faith journey, opening our minds to new ideas and inspiring us to take action.
