GFWC of NC Statesville Woman’s Club Presents proceeds from 2022 “Blooms for a Cause” Annual Geranium Sale

June 10, 2022 - The General Federation of Women’s Club of North Carolina (GFWC of NC) Statesville Woman’s Club presented proceeds from the “Blooms for a Cause” Annual Geranium Sale. This year club members voted to share the proceeds with N.B. Mills Elementary School and The Kindness Closet.

The school will be using the funds for their Treasure Box Incentive Program, a school-wide behavior expectation process for the upcoming year, using PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports). The idea behind it is to teach and support all students in making positive behavior choices and reinforcing those choices with a token economy. Students earn individual points, and points are traded in for rewards. There will be a “Treasure Box” for each of the 25 classrooms. The School Leadership Team is responsible for this program.

The Kindness Closet is a 501(c)3 organization based out of Mooresville that “is committed to lessening the financial strain of those having a hard time making ends meet by providing household and hygiene items not covered by government assistance. No questions asked.” They recently provided a cart to Third Creek Middle School and has plans to branch out to Statesville Middle and Statesville High Schools.
