Leadership Statesville Mission Statement

Leadership Statesville exists to cultivate and connect the leadership community in Statesville and Iredell County by:

    1. Providing hands on leader development, education and local connections in order to optimize participant impact in their businesses, non-profits and the community at large.
    2. Enhancing growth by connecting to state and regional leadership resources and providing alumni avenues to use individual strengths and talents to benefit our local area.

Training business and professional people to assume community leadership roles is one way to ensure a continuing pipeline of leadership talent. Since 1988, hundreds of local community leaders have participated in Leadership Statesville.

What to expect during Leadership Statesville

Leadership Statesville partners with Cool Spring Center to provide hands on leadership development.  Each participant is given a Path Element Profile that helps them discover who they are at the core.

A diverse group of existing and potential leaders is assembled for the program to better understand themselves,  their peers,  their community, and more.

The program includes the following key elements:

Orientation/Retreat—to review the year long experience and to set the stage for growth.  The class is able to create their own identity, build a strong bond with each other, and begin to gain a solid understanding of how to work together as growing leaders.

Day Sessions—one session per month totaling 7 individual, full day sessions designed to explore various aspects of the community that often dive into local issues, areas of community need, and current community resources.  Participants will see aspects of the community they might not have seen before as well as have the opportunity to interact with various community and business leaders.

In total, the program is a 9 month stretch to grow personally and professionally and to prepare to be a more effective leader in the community.  The program concludes with a graduation reception to honor the participants and to encourage them to take the next step in their leadership journey.

The program expectations require about 10-15 hours per month through the full day monthly sessions, group project commitment, and other outside learning experiences throughout the program.   Eligibility for graduation requires not missing more than 1 full session, 2 half sessions, 3 tardys, or a combination of these.
